It's a Positive Birth Thing...

First of all let me say a big hello! and thank you for taking the time to check out my blog...it's taken me a while to find my feet but now I love it and I feel really privileged to be able to share with you...

Ok so who am I? Well I'm Jo, I'm a nearly 40 year old mother of two boys and I'm originally from the North West, moved to Somerset in early 2014.

I have a varied background having spent a number of years working for the NHS in public health, I've had training roles and I've also worked in primary and secondary schools and in a former life I was actually an Interior Designer! Random I know but I have a BA (hons) in this.

The birth of my first son in 2004 had a massive impact on me in a number of ways but it was his birth that changed my career direction towards health and ignited my passion for midwifery and antenatal health. Life being life I didn't fully pursue my antenatal passion until 2014 when I announced the pregnancy of my second son...his birth really was the passion that led me in to a career as a Daisy Birthing Teacher.

So if you're here now reading this then I guess that you're possibly expecting? So congratulations! :-) or maybe you just have an interest in birth or an interest in a career in birth? What ever your motivation I hope you find what I write informative, interesting and worth a read.

So how do I sell Daisy Birthing to you? How can I convince you that Daisy Classes are worth every penny? I did them myself as a mum and it was the best investment of my life! But what is your motivation for a birth preparation course?

I recently asked my pregnant sister what where her burning questions as an expectant first time mum for me as a Daisy Teacher. This is what she said...

I want to know...

  • What sensations, feelings, process my birthing body will go through?
  • Where I'm up to in labour by what I'm experiencing?
  • Techniques to keep me calm?
  • How not to have a fearful experience?
  • How to keep a calm head?
  • About making decisions about my birth as the birth progresses?
  • Alternative ways to birth, pain relief?
  • How to create my own natural pain relief?
  • Techniques to learn to stop fight or flight?
  • It's a physical event how can I prepare?

I know that a term of Daisy addresses all of the above questions and more, much, much more!

So are you seeking a better or positive birth experience?  What does it mean to you to have a positive birth experience? Have you read all of the books but don't know how to put it in to practice and lets face it birthing day is not the day to start!

So what are you waiting for? Daisy Birthing and the couples course Daisy Parent are here just for you! With classes in Street and Burnham on Sea and further classes in Somerset planned for the future I can promise you that the Daisy Birthing classes I offer will be the best investment for birth preparation you could ever make!
